Definitely one of the best kept secrets

The Eagle Cap Wilderness in the Wallowa Mountains has always been one of my favorite places to go in Oregon. I have been day hiking once and backpacking here 8 times since 1999. I have also camped at Wallowa Lake in addition to this a number of times. To truly experience the wonders of Oregon one must go off the beaten track. The heart of the Wallowas is its mountains and alpine lakes. I do not want to disclose all my favorites but want others to discover their own favorites. Of course this includes the general Glacier Lake, Mirror Lake, Eagle Cap, and Ice Lake regions but ventures deeper into the wilderness to see beautiful wildflowers, scenic vistas, wildlife, lakes, and mountains. I will provide my copyrighted photos to show the beauty this area has to offer. In my adventures I have encountered wolves following me, bears eating huckleberries, mountain goats and bighorn sheep high in the mountainous terrain, as well as deer, elk, and smaller critters such as pika. We have done some amazing fishing up in the alpine lakes as well some trout reaching 23 inches in length. It is an incredible experience to open your heart to but it is an arduous journey and is only for those willing to put the effort. The reward is like a piece of heaven.

A well-kept secret of Oregon wilderness. The mountain peaks stand out like the Rockies, but not near as crowded. Excellent backpacking, camping, and hiking. Gorgeous small lakes and creeks.
