This Obelisk is only to be found off the beaten track. Wheel chair access is possible but the ground has to be hard as there is no well made path. The Obelisk is due to be renovated in the future which will upset the Crows that live in the area and take their ease on the top.

Not worth the walk to see it.. The view of the fields opposite was much nicer than the fenced off and scaffolded obelisk. This should be a central piece of Loughborough heritage, a relic from the Garendon Estate, but instead it’s just been left to crumble on the edge of a field.
We went looking for this on a cold day in January. It's a bit of a steep walk up to it, and a bit slippery under foot. When we got up to it the obelisk itself is really tall. It looks like any Cleopatra needle you may have seen, except it is built mainly out of red brick. Sadly, in keeping with today's world, now there is an eight foot fence surrounding it, got to protect it from, shall we say, the less intelligent amongst us. It was an interesting little walk up, one we will repeat in warmer weather.
Brillent brick work.nice area.lots of wild life.must go and see for your shelf.brill.
Currently undergoing renovation to save it from collapsing. It's hoped that when Garendon Park is openened up to the public that this will be easier to get to, for all to appreciate.
Scaffolding all around as it's in need of repair.
Hard to find. Good walks to get to and around it.
Very nice for walking like to look for the buzzards
