We had our Wills, Power of Attorney, and Financial Powers drawn up. Lugar Law was very helpful explaining what each were and what we may or may not need. Due to Covid 19 Lugar Law worked extra hard to ensure our needs were met even with businesses being closed and restrictions. We would highly recommend Lugar Law. I hired Lugar Law, specifically Cerid Lugar to represent me in regards to a speeding ticket I received in Roanoke County. We agreed on a fee and I paid her. I sent her and her assistant a copy of the speeding ticket and a copy of my insurance verification. On her recommendation I had my speedometer calibrated and sent her the notarized results. She sent a letter to the judge stating that my speedometer was off. This all happened within a week and I felt confident the matter was being taken care of. Three weeks later I received a call form Luger’s assistant stating that they thought the ticket was issued in Franklin County instead of Roanoke County. I was advised that instead of the 150.00 fee I had already paid for Lugar’s services that 700.00 was required. I was awestruck. The ticket clearly stated ROANOKE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT and at no point was Franklin County discussed. I felt like this was a shakedown. I had spoken to a few other lawyers and 360.00 was the average fee. A 550.00 uncharged is just incredulous, especially to be told this 3 WEEKS later and after I had already paid her. I fired the firm and am awaiting a refund. A law firm that cannot read the plain print on a speeding ticket and then after their error tries to charge their client 550.00 more points to a poor business acumen and proclaims loudly to an inattention to detail that I would think is required to be a good lawyer. I would suggest that if you are seeing legal services to go elsewhere.
