Self service DIY places are still not common here so Aki is useful. It is often expensive for the quality you get but there is a good range of goods. The alternative is trecking round ironmongers and lumber yards which is better if you know exactly what you want. Aki is perfect if you need to look for possibilities. Or are on a budget and don't need the quality. The kitchen taps we bought there have both broken and been repaired and the shower fittings didn't last. We always end up there because because they do often have what you need, both for the garden and the house. Just be aware of what you are buying.
