Silence, lovely place to sit and ponder.

A really nice area. The church was built in the 13th Century and is believed to have been destroyed by Parliamentary Forces after the Battle of Naseby in 1645.
Abandoned village of knaptoft where only the ruins of the church building remains though special services are held in the summer and burials are still carried out. The accsess road has become rough with heavy farm traffic and the highways austerity only maintain the main junction so once off the main road the road gets steadily worse as you progress along the lane but gets better at the church carpark. Once passed the church the road is closed to all but farm and construction traffic but the foot paths are still open for walkers and horse riding. Old head stones date from the Late 1690s to present day and the old phont is still present within the church walls
Beautiful place to visit
Lovely to see that these ruins have actually been used and not just left to become overgrown with weeds. They have been in use for a long time as a cemetery, and services are still held here about once a month or so. Very rural and beautifully peaceful.
Took a friend there for the first time. Beautiful
