20 min wait for food. A pie that was chilled in the middle. Tiny portions of chips, blatantly taking advantage of the good location. And a "battered" sausage in attached photo. Which had the texture of being microwaved.

We have been to Lyme Regis on many occasions as it's only a 40 minute drive for us mainly to enjoy the sea air and have some food. I am now writing this review as this is the fifth time I have been to the cob fish and chip shop and this time was the worst by far. it was just before closing maybe 20 minutes before. when I popped in to get sausage and chips three times, there was a male and female behind the counter, the female was serving and the mail was cooking at the point they were serving me they looked like they were going to have a big fight! The males attitude was disgusting, no patience whatsoever he did not speak fluent English and had a hard job understanding exactly what I was asking for lets be fair sausage and chips is fairly easy to understand!! he had a problem with quantities I wanted two small sausage and chips and one large sausage and chips! yet he was still getting confused and was taking it out on his female co-worker. My next point is quantities of food over price. I'll be quite honest with you We have eaten at many fish and chip shops in and around Somerset, and this chip shop served the smallest portion of chips I have ever seen and at 2.00 I thought that was despicable!! there was 39 chips exactly!! Needless to say I will not be eating from that establishment ever again. Just to add there was two ladies in front of me who also left fairly disgusted at the attitude of the male worker.
Chips were tasty but 1.50 for a cone that wasn't even a cone is a rip off. This place need to stop cashing in on the location and actually treat their customers better with a decent portion or lower the price. I won't be going back.
The food was fairly okay, but the service, well it seems normal for Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Got into the fish bar at 6.35 and asked for a one large cod and chips and a small sausage and chips, well the shoulders and face on the lady behind the counter dropped, a look at the clock as if to ask, what at this time? At 25 minutes before we shut??? If it wasn't for us having a hungry grand daughter in the car I would have turned around. When will these people learn that we are their livelihood and they need us far more than we need them.
Chips looked like they were from the day before, the long dark hair wrapped around my chips was definitely not mine. Felt like they didn't want to be there, no charm or interaction.
Nice little place. Staff were nice and friendly, polite and chatty. Not sure if the photo does the justice but the portion was big. I was impressed with the cod size and it was proper fresh and tasty. I did not finish mine - full to the brim. Kids had little sets which were just the right size for them and enjoyed them as well. A bit pricey but to be fair I didn't compare to other places in town - they might all have similar prices. 2 x large cod with chips plus 2 x kids fish and chips (all chips with cheese) came to just under 30.
This squalid, tired, below average take away in a great location is awful. I can only imagine that the owners rely on people like myself that go in spontaneously as it’s so close to the beach and don’t worry about repeat visitors. The Eastern European gentleman serving had trouble understanding me (and vice versa) and got my order wrong several times, including the final price. There were 6 of us, with cod and chips at 8.70 this was a rip-off! The chips appeared to have been overcooked days beforehand and were hard and nasty, the cod was nearly average in a lot of batter and both together were very greasy. The condiments and forks (no knives) were all extras at 10p a go. Suffice to say, we won’t be back and will avoid like the plague.
Small portions but taste is ok. Staff not overflowing with charm.
