Lots of space to camp, not herded into a tight pitch. No showers or electric, so best if you're self contained. Fallow deer stays on the site, plus shetlands, New Forest ponies and donkeys.

So it's one of the cheaper campsites. But it's still forestry commission and therefore gorgeous woodland setting. The wildlife you see just taking a five minute walk from your tent is amazing. It still has a toilet block and washing up station for those not In caravan.
Great place. Clean toilets. Like the whole place is clean. A courteous person attending the reception. Be sure to wear hard ground pegs, If you are with a tent. We will visit him again !!!
We have camped here with a tent in 2018 and 2019 and both times have been very happy. There is plenty of choice about where to pitch your tent and lots of sheltered spots available. Ponies, cattle and deer wander around the site a d loads of birds too. Be prepared with some decent hard ground tent pegs as the ground can be very hard! The facilities are basic (WC and washing up only and chemical disposal for vans) but are well maintained and perfectly adequate (although a cover over the washing up area would make camping in the rain a bit less miserable). There is a disabled toilet accessible by radar key. There are separate bins for recycling, general waste and used bbqs but no food waste. The staff change from year to year but both times have been very friendly and keen to help. Check in is quick and it's easy to arrange a late departure too. They will re-freeze cool blocks in reception for a small charge and also sell some basic equipment (pegs, disposal bbqs ect). They also offer free charging for electric mobility aids. The surrounding area is lovely, a visit to the ice cream van which is normally parked on the road heading north from the campsite is recommended. The new forest museum in Lyndhurst is worth a trip too. The pub in Fritham serves excellent ploughman's lunches made with local produce and is well worth a visit. Also Petlake alpacas is just a few miles away, you can feed and visit the alpacas, you can also book to go on an alpaca walk on certain days. They also sell hot drinks and have a nice outdoor seating area.
Lovely simple campsite with great surrounding woods to explore, and plenty of wildlife wondering around. Staff were very friendly and helpful too.
Excellent location for camping with young children, lots of donkey & ponies wandering around, plenty of space. Site clearly says no showers so don't expect more than washing facilities. Take good tent pegs, the ground was hard in places. Scenery wise this place is top class, absolutely stunning. Just don't fall foul of the wardens....
This is my favourite place in the new forest to camp and I've tried quite a few different campsites! You're free to go and find a pitch wherever you fancy which is my favourite as there's nice secluded hideaways. Beautiful place, beautiful animals!
Top quality campsite. Quiet surroundings. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Horses and donkeys tend to plod around the area grazing, so you might not want to leave food out. Ground can be hard in places so it may be worth bringing rock pegs, although these can also be purchased on site.
