Filled out a dog/cat application to adopt baby rats. Three (wasted) visits to see the rats and then I was told I couldn’t adopt basically because I was negligent for not having my dogs spayed or neutered and ‘up to date’ on vaccines. (They should know you don’t vaccinate any animal with a chronic health issue.) My vet himself was not contacted nor anyone that knows me. My character and history with animals was not even considered. Not once. I’ve had animals for 52 years and rats for 15. I’ve donated to this place MANY times in the past and adopted there when Lindsay was director. THAT’S when the place was great. THAT’S when they checked into you as a person. I’ve worked at a vet, volunteered in rescue, instructed obedience, shown dogs, and the list is endless. I still have the BLIND cat I adopted nearly 7 years ago when Lindsay was director. The director now is clueless and far below standard for this facility. It’s sad and shameful. I will never donate there again or attempt to adopt any animal ever. I feel extremely sorry for the animals.

I wanted to share my experience today hoping that volunteers and management will take note and make changes. My children and I had 200 dollars that we wanted to make a difference in shelter animals lives. So we went to the store, bought boxes of treats, toys, etc. When we called the shelter we were told just to leave it on the porch. I told them there was almost two hundred dollars worth of stuff and I didn't want it stolen. I was informed the staff would get it. We waited over ten minutes to see if someone would come. No one did. I am so upset for the animals that these people claim to care about. It only takes a few minutes to steal. I'm upset for my children that they didn't see anyone come out and get the stuff. From now on I will find a place that actually cares when donations are made no matter how small or how big.

Had to fill out lengthy application for an APPOINTMENT before we could see the dog. They never bothered to call us after the application was filed.. Five employees/volunteers standing around but couldn't show a dog or set up an appointment. The paperwork is more important than the adoption. Do they really need a lengthy application just to let you meet the dog? Why waste the time if you and the dog don't click?Go to another shelter where the staff cares about the animals. The animals deserve better than this.
