The Appalichian Trail use to stay on the east side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The ATC moved it when Wintergreen was developed in the 70's. You can make a 9 mile loop hike by hiking the old AT and connect to the AT at Dripping Rock... Awesome Hike....

Nice spot. Very relaxing. Me and my buddy shouted over the mountain tops and it echos lol Just be careful in winter. They close the road to get there down frequently
