Its a little gem. A nice spot to stop and enjoy a cup of tea and a fresh biscuit or cookie

Date of Visit: Dec 21st, 2019 A gold mine of a bakery in Madoc, Ontario We first discovered The Hidden Goldmine Bakery in February of 2019 as we were driving home from Ottawa, after the Winterlude festival. We stopped in for some butter tarts and a coffee to include them in our #buttertartquest. This store is very large, and they have a lot of beautiful looking baked goods on display. We visited again just before Christmas, and they had many holidays treats in addition to their normal offerings. They are clearly well-known for their butter tarts as they have many tarts on display. There is a café where you can enjoy a light meal, or a sweet treat and coffee while you relax and enjoy yourself. They are also a lovely little gift shop with many great items for you to buy. Butter tarts, baked goods, and sweet treats galore. They will make an appearance on the Roguetrippers Butter Tart Quest If you find yourself in the area of Madoc – Canada’s oldest gold mining town, you need to visit this little hidden treasure.

First time visiting this area and had heard great things about the bakery. The bakery itself was closed and only a window at the back of the building to buy things. Be prepared to wait in line. No prices on menu list. Bought 2 large cherry pies (really, really good! highly recommend) and 3 six packs of butter tarts ( pecan and raisin )...pricey, not much filling in any them, mostly thick crust Will stick to the amazing pies next time.

Very welcoming. Vintage country decor right up my alley. Staff was kind and do make the best secret recipe hot chocolate. Waiting to try the sweets I purchased.
