Puerta del Sol after the Filomena snowfall, it was nearly impossible to walk around properly, although the view was absolutely astonishing.
Amazing plaza, with a lot going on and a very central point of the city and well connected to all modes of transportation. We stayed within a walking distance of this plaza and we usually started our day from it. Very popular plaza for street performers and each street started from this plaza has a lot of restaurants and little shops. Also the main pick up point for both Red hop on/off bus routes and once high foot traffic means high opportunity for thieves.
Beutiful historical place, though at night very crowded watch out for pickpockets. Still safe other than them.
Puerta del Sol is a major public square in Madrid, one of the city's best known landmarks and possibly one of the busiest places on the planet. Officially the centre of the radial network of Spanish roads, this square has many other landmark buildings around it such as the old Post Office, the head of the regional government, as well as other landmarks of Madrid such as the statue of The Bear and the Strawberry Tree (Heraldic symbol of the city) and the Kilometer Zero stone. The latter two always seems to have a queue for selfies. Shame it's so touristy busy, otherwise it would be a great place to visit. Actually quite a nice place to stop for a bit of food as there's plenty of restaurants and cafes in the plaza as well as the many side streets leading to the plaza.
