Don't bother heading here: expensive, confusing wine menu, arrogant service, rubbish food. If you go sit on the terraza and avoid food. I can't recommend this little french café / bistro unless you are going for the terraza. It had been on my list to visit for a while and a few evenings ago when meandering and tapas-ing, I decided to give it a go. The atmosphere inside was a little off from the first minute we went in, dark and uninviting with slightly bizarre decor, coupled with brusque initial service and a completely confusing wine menu was not a good start. I work in the wine industry and still found it tough to navigate the menu - whites are jumbled with reds as well as sparkling, as are by the glass wines with bottles, the font and colours are rubbish. This along with some more leftfield options made me feel like Guybrush Threepwood solving a puzzle. I was excited for the sizeable selection of natural wines, but the menu put paid to that excitement. To make things worse when we asked for recommendations / help with the menu, we were arrogantly dismissed with a couple of finger waves at said menu. We plumped for 2 glasses of Melon de Bourgogne, which was passable but pricey and a ración of boquerones. The boquerones were expensive, arrived on our table in plastic packaging (have you ever heard of that in Madrid?!), were very 'mush'-y and covered in tomato and spice, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. Needless to say we hot-footed it out to find a better wine bar - head to La Fisna instead.

I was dining solo today. Intimate wine bar with natural wines. World not be good for groups or families with kids. Close enough to the center to be convenient. There's a tiny patio. Service was solid. Kind and attentive, but not too much. I had a rosado pet nat that was lovely with the escargots and viños ambiz rojo went very well with the duck tataki. The fondant chocolat was lovely and the coffee was good. Not great but good enough. I definitely recommend it.

If you want to experience a calm evening full of delicious food and a variety of local natural wines, then this is the place. It’s cosy with character and the perfect place if you’re solo. Some might say the staff are a little rude, but really, it’s just one of those places where you feel like you’re entering their home, so treat them respectfully and practise some of your French or Spanish ;) I had some French oysters, terrine, sardines (pictured), along with three or four glasses of wine. It all came to about 35 - worth it for everything I got! Just wish I tried the dessert :(
