This bridge is also one of the icon of Madurai. This bridge is the main bridge of madurai called A.V. bridge that means ALBERT VICTOR BRIDGE. ALBERT VICTOR was the collector of Madurai in 1884 during british rule in India. He built it in 2 and half years. There are 14 pillars, 14 curves in it. This bridge connctes the Goripalayam with Nelpettai. On December 8, 1886 this bridge was came to people use. Now it's age was 134. But it is standing strong now also.
