One of the few local old mines that they don't seem to mind you wander around. Some metal and brick structures.

Extremely fun place to hike and explore around! A lot of abandoned mines that’s for sure! If you love history give this place a go! Beautiful surrounding mountains and views with a lot of hiking opportunities and a smell town just to the west! Do your research before you and learn about the Kelly’s before you actually go there makes the experience even better!

Start at the converted train depot library/museum in Magdalena. It'll fill you in on the history and eventual abandonment of Kelly. Look through the clippings displayed as a book. There's map in there and lot of fascinating history. As a place to explore, Kelly was fascinating. While most of the town is gone, key pieces of equipment remain., especially if you follow the trail to the top. Incredible views of the green valley and the lush greenery pepper the old heavily rutted trail to the highest mine. The cemetary next to the old church is not in good shape but fascinating reminder of these people's lives. A brief comment note on another reviews mention of the ghost town in Brody, Ca. Brody is literally one in a million with entire households still intact. On a scale of "razed rubble with random cans" as a 1 and Brody as a 10, Kelly would sit very comfortably at solid 7. 8 If you're able to do the full hike. Kelly is frequently overlooked in the tourist droves that flood New Mexico. This was fascinating, beautiful place.

Very dangerous place to take your kids or off leash pets. I think it's private property. I would never want the liability of owning such a place. A rickety loose wire fence is around the very deep hole in the ground. I wouldn't count on that to keep anyone from falling in.

Not much to see except for two remaining walls of an old building.. There is a church that looks like it has been maintained. And you will find a sign that says the current population is now two people. The most interesting thing is the mine shaft that is visible in the distance. If you are passing by and aren't in a hurry it is worth a quick visit.
