Mallaig Ferry Terminal, Mallaig, PH41 4QD, Scotland is a popular ferry terminal that runs ferry services to local places such as Armadale, Canna, Eigg, Invere, Lochboisdale, Muck, Oban & Rum . . . which is quite a mixed cocktail of ports, to be sure. However, the village of Mallaig itself is of a fairly recent incarnation, in the grand scheme of things as its existence dates back only from circa 1840s. Whilst there will have no doubt been seagoing vessels of all sorts crossing all over the place from Mallaig back then, the first recorded car-carrying ferry was In 1932, when a couple of local entrepreneurs constructed a flat bottomed vessel capable of carrying two cars and they began transporting vehicles across the five miles separating Mallaig from Armadale on Skye. Don't know how long it took to cross back in 1932, but the current ferry crossing from Mallaig to Armadale Ferry Terminal takes about 35 mins.
