Hoshang Shah Tomb is in Mandav which is an ancient fort city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It's surrounded by stone walls dotted with darwazas (gateways). It's also known for its Indian and Afghan architectural heritage from 8th Century to 15th Century. Landmark buildings include Hoshang Shah’s Tomb, a domed marble mausoleum, and the vast Jami Masjid mosque, with courtyards framed by colonnades. This monument is believed to be inspiration to make Taj Mahal in white marble as this was the first white marble monument in India. The Domb of the Tomb is very imposing and grand with marble cladding on both sides. The sides of the Tomb are fitted with marble carved Jaali (Window Grills) with awe inspiring designs. The design on each Window has a very unique design pattern. The courtyard of the Tomb is also very well landscaped with a Dharmshala outside in red stone. Overall worth visiting this iconic monument.

Nice place. Local guide calls it Shiva Temple but some how I didn't get convinced. This monument potential to UNESCO World Heritage Site. Let's hope for that.

No separate ticket needed for this place .. it's under jami maszid complex where you will be charged rs.25 . So do visit This was built by Hoshang shah himself even before his death. This was India's first marble mausoleum built 200 years before Taj Mahal. Emperor Shah Jahan sent his architect to visit this place before making The Taj .
