First time with Stein Optometric after a friend recommended it. Lots of options here and everyone in the office is friendly ( I felt like I was in good hands - which is important to me) and accommodating. Vast selection of glasses, I recommend it if you haven't been.

I've been going to Stein for my exams for almost 15 years. Their exam equipment is really high end. The best part is getting the retinal images at every exam so the doctor has a record of any changes. No corrective lenses needed yet, but I always leave with a pair of sunglasses (no joke - see the photo). The staff is always very helpful - Jeannie and Lauren stand out as they can walk right up to the frame board and pick one out and it looks perfect on you first try. My guess is that they have more sunglasses on display than a Sunglass Hut.

The group at Stein Optometric bring the cutting edge technology with old school hospitality. Located in a glitzy mall, they are conscious of the new rules and still make the effort to diagnose eyes behind the mask. I'd definitely go back again for my check ups and we'll see if I don't get a LASIK recommendation there too!

Unless you’re looking to buy sunglasses only, stay away from this place. I don’t ever post reviews but I’m so appalled by Stein that I just had to put it out there in public interest. My 63 year old mother got her eye exam and prescription glasses made here, and despite two try’s and multiple visits, they made glasses that were unsatisfactory. She has since been struggling with blurred vision for 2 months and just got back from a leading neuro ophthalmologist, who tested her eyesight and lens to point out the grievous error committed by Stein optometric, which was that the glasses were numbered differently on paper than what the lens actually are. And not even a small difference that one may forgive as it’s 1.5 vs 3.0 of an impact in one of the dimensions. Stein kept insisting my mom’s blurred vision is due to her dry eyes instead of simply validating whether they made glasses as prescribed. I’ve lost all trust in them and am disgusted how they can be so incompetent to get lens made of a different number than what they themselves tested and documented in the prescription. I hope they realize how unprofessional and almost criminal they have been in committing such a mistake that left my mom struggling to see and has caused excessive strain on her.

Love this place! I have been using Stein Optometric Center for 8 years now. I would not go elsewhere for my eye care. Top notch service and products. Finding a perfect frame to fit your face can be tedious, but Jeanie has honed that skill to perfection. She has never steered me wrong. I always get compliments on the glasses she recommends. The service is personal. I feel like part of the family. Highly recommend SOC!!!

I've been coming to Stein Optometric exclusively for almost 25 years now and have never had a "less than" experience. I have always gotten personalized service for my needs, even if just for endless opinions on frame styles for my face. Being family owned and run has always meant I will see familiar faces when I go in. That translates to getting service from technicians who know my needs from past visits. Also, I have always found current styles that have worked for me. And the turn around is exceptional. I hope to be visiting for many years to come and wish them all the best in this new year.

Even though I live in San Francisco, I still come to Stein Optometric when I visit LA. They have a lot of frames to choose from and the service and doctors' care is great. I have been to other shops with lots of frames but no doctors. This place has the great frame selection of a high-end boutique as well as experienced and friendly doctors and staff. Great one-stop shopping. If you are like me, you have to try on almost ALL the frames in the shop before you settle on one or two. I would never buy a frame unless I had tried it on first. The staff here helps me try on all the frames I want without pressure. They will offer suggestions but never be pushy. Even more importantly, they will tell you honestly if a frame doesn't look good! In any case, I've been coming here for years and consistently get compliments on my glasses! p.s. The new remodel looks great!

I am the founder of a criminal justice reform nonprofit called the Jailbird Foundation. I have personally been receiving exceptional service from Stein Optometric for 25 years. Because of my long-standing relationship with this business, I asked the owner, Dr. Howard Stein, if he could assist one of the men we help at my nonprofit with getting a new pair of glasses after returning home from 16 years of incarceration. I told Dr. Stein about how much good this gentleman does in the world and how much time he has spent on his healing and accountability. I also let him know that it was virtually impossible for him to contribute to society without glasses, given his faulty vision, but that he simply could not afford a pair at this time. Dr. Stein agreed to assist him and just today got him a brand new pair of professional frames with progressive lenses. I am so impressed with the corporate responsibility that Stein optometric is showing by giving back to the community in this way! Thank you Stein Optometric for your service!
