While out for a bike ride, I decided to stop in. This hatchery has been operating for about 100 years. The current facility was opened in the 1970's. Due to concerns about infections the public doesn't get to go into the buildings. I got to meet one of the staff and was told the construction along the road is the building of new ponds for the hatching and rearing of walleye and northern pike which will be an addition to the trout and salmon. Nice holding pond with fish. Saw either an osprey or immature eagle. Nice experience.

Wonderful place, DNR officer stopped us to make sure we saw everything, gave us a personal tour of the fish trailer, nice man, highlight of my day. Way to go, DNR! Would highly recommend. The walking tour was very interesting as well.
