Good for kids
This is an amazing place to go for a walk on the weekend. It's only 40 mins outside Madrid. If you get there early you can drive your car right up to the restaurant and park inside the park. If not, you park at the gate and can add an extra 1.5km to you planned hike. The La Pedriza park has spectacular scenery. Weekends can be crowded. Swimming is no longer permitted in the pools along the Manzanares River. Best time of the year to go is in spring when the snow melt fills the river.

The Best never rest
Go there and enjoy the nature. If you like hiking and long trails to walk.
The nearest restaurant to la Pedriza, you can start most of the hiking routes from down there. They have most of the tables in the outside which is kind of nice if it's nice outside. You also can do some sporting of climbers and local birds from this point. Haven't tried the food but the drinks at least are quite expensive.
We are a family of 5, my husband, 5 year old son, 3 year old daughter and 3 month old baby. From the parking, we took a free bus service till the place where the river flows. It took nearly 20 minutes I suppose. Then we walked for nearly half an hour and had our picnic on the banks of the river. Half an hour of walk was because we were looking for a specific place. But anyway, el nacimiento de manzanares was nearly 2 hours walking distance from where the bus dropped us. With children it wasn't possible for us to go all the way there. It was a nice day, so we enjoyed.
