MORE To All Members of Marathon Garden Club: Undoubtedly, you are all aware of the various announcements and Declarations of Emergency by Local, State and Federal Officials surrounding the spread of the coronavirus, Covid19. Although there were no reported cases, as of yesterday, in Monroe County, there are cases nearby in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. In an abundance of caution (as everyone is saying), the Garden Club is announcing the following schedule changes. Based on a survey of the MGC Board of Directors, President Scarlett Duffy is announcing, 1) The regular March monthly meeting of the membership, Friday, March 20, is CANCELLED. 2) The Club-sponsored Game Day at the Club building, scheduled for Friday, March 27 is CANCELLED. Scarlett will be contacting participants and refunding their money. 3) The April Board of Directors meeting and April membership meeting remain scheduled, pending near-term developments. Stay tuned. The Marathon Garden Club was organized in 1955 by a group of civic-minded residents who wanted to help improve the appearance of the area. In addition to its community involvement, the club encourages members to improve the gardens and landscaping of their own homes and neighborhoods.  Classes are taught by local experts on topics such as floral arrangements, landscape design, conservation, and orchid growing.
