Volunteer run museum keeping alive so many stories of the local area. Expect it to be old and a bit run down but that’s it’s charm. Other communities would be lucky to have a place like this, well done to everyone who keeps it going!

Wonderful place full of local history and information. All the people were knowledgeable and passionate about the exhibits. It was only a short trip around, about an hour, but well worth the entrance fee. Would highly recommend to locals and tourists alike

Well worth a visit and you can get a combined ticket that gives you entry to the Tudor house just round the corner. Exceptionally nice and helpful staff.

I wish they could get funding....it's a brilliant little gem, with masses of history, knowledgeable guides and assistants. It's just that it needs a smart revamping of signage and displays. It's in the heart of the town and has a wealth of information about every aspect. The cells on the ground floor are cram packed with pictures and information, the passages are crowded with more, the stairs up-to the court room packed with pictures and texts. The court room itself has information on everything from archaeological pit excavations to suffragettes and Cobb's Brewery. Give them money for a proper museum building and leave this place as a historic Police Station and Court Room. Otherwise very interesting, I'm just trying to be helpful and give feedback.
