This review is about the Hippopotamus in Marseille Vieux Port. I love this chaine, acceptable prices and always good food. I agree the service need to be improved. We understand this is a prime and busy location but you are going to continue losing customers if everyone is giving you bad reviews on this matter. I had a very nice lunch and my food was really good. I hope the management take notes.

Ordered small platter which is significantly smaller than mentioned in the menu. Great quality but poor quantity. Nice restaurant and lots of choice. Nice view of the port

Glasses and a carafe (included other cutlery) of water are very dirty. Of the two ordered Medium Well steaks, one was closer to Well Done, the other at the Midium Rare. Instead of a fork and knife, a toothpick was offered for pepper steak and french fries. Only one plus you can put that this is probably the only place in the Port where they cook something that is not fast food.

When we were here everything seems to have gone wrong. We waited for an hour. One of the steaks was different than ordered and they forgot the sauces. The extra side dish arrived after 20 minutes. So basically each of us ate alone because he other one didn’t have his food for another half an hour.

Great location, you're looking through the marina. We saw the Sun set eating dinner. I had some good spareribs and a beer. The only negative was the waiters; They were new and they lack experience, they mixed up our orders several times. They were Young but nice, we still gave them a tip because they were trying to do good.
