The Group consists: 1.NGO FLAME Belgium 2.ONG FLAME Burkina Faso 3.ONG FLAME RDC Our mission We want to develop medical aid for burn & disaster victims in regions where there is a lack of specialized care. We help our local partners with the organization, training and management of the local burn & disaster center (s). We aim to help our partners to develop a clinical & technical capacity for managing serious burn victims and, as far as possible, to organize mobile disaster-relief systems The NGO works following clear principles. 1.We work with professionals. When a mission to Africa is announced, we always have requests of volunteers who want to participate. Although there are always very motivated young people who want to get involved, we must respect a rule which allows us to guarantee the quality of the mission; We must have enough experienced specialists to manage the mission. Young people will follow and learn from specialists. The circumstances in which we have to work are sometimes very specific and require professionalism, knowledge and creativity. There is little room for beginners. 2.To guarantee sustainability, the daily management of the burn & disaster center is done by and for the local people. Our role is to support their activities. We organize missions, during which we carry out necessary operations and during which we give courses to refresh skills. It is obvious that during these missions, we also carry out checks on all the facilities, as well as the care routes. These assessments serve to increase the independence of the center(s). Our goals 1. Building specialized burn & disaster centers following WHO guidelines, 2. Offering qualitative specialized burns 3. Training, continuous education and guidance of all local staff (Clinical, Technical, Logistics) for the management of burn & disaster victims. 4. Implement a sustainable health program, based on local ownership
