The builder of our house used this company to put the a/c units in. We started having more problems about a month or two ago when it was beginning to get hot. The company seemed promising. The only solution they came up with was to turn the downstairs unit lower than the upstairs. Obviously it didn't work since it's a larger issue than turning it down a few degrees. I called the main office then the Operations Manager back and neither will return our call. I am not impressed with this company's customer service and lack of communication. I would not recommend if you want your a/c unit to get fixed!
If they offered a zero stars, that is what I would give Engineered Comfort and the owner Walter Nelmes. My builder used them to install 2 HVAC systems in our new home in 2012. We spent 2 summers in multiple meetings with our builder and Mr Nelmes to correct AC that would often not cool either floor under 78 or 79. Walter is full of pontification explaining his reasoned inadequacies. The bottom line is , 7 years later, we are spending 10,000 adding an additional 2 ton unit to cool properly...additionally we are having to now retrofit new return air ducts and vents on both floors to provide the correct return air volume to support the tonnage installed...ridiculous. Walter “ engineered “ 1 return air duct for a 4 ton unit...we got multiple companies to analyze our problem. Each of them said we didn’t have enough tonnage and not nearly enough return air volume. You should run from this company.
Don't ever use these guys. They put the system in my house 11 years ago and I had a good experience with them then. My air went out and so I called them to fix it 2 1/2 weeks ago. Michelle was supposed to get back with me. I gave her both my number and my wife's number. I went on a week long motorcycle trip expecting to come back and find my air fixed assuming that since she didn't call me, she would call my wife when the compressor came in. When I got back, it wasn't fixed. So I called up first business day and the response I got was \I thought I called you but I guess I didn't.\ She promised to call me back with a date to get it fixed. No call back that day and I followed up the next day and was told Friday. I asked her if they couldn't get to it sooner considering she had forgotten to call me and I got a rude response. So then I got a call Friday saying it would be Saturday at 8. No one showed up at 8, it was 9. I asked the workman if they could finish up inside first (had to replace the evaporator) or at least get the noisy stuff done first as I have a 17 month old and I didn't want them banging around. One of the workman, an older guy with a beard was polite but before he could say anything, the younger guy said they would work on both at the same time, that he didn't want to be out here on a Saturday and that part of the work would be noisy. I told him I wasn't getting a real good feeling about him making an effort and he was extremely rude. So don't use these guys. They act like you're doing them a favor to let them do your work. It was a 4200 job by the way. Incidentally, I gave Michelle my work number (told her it was work) and my wife's cell which I identified as a cell. She didn't bother to note that mine was a work number.
Engineered Comfort has service techs that are both knowledgeable and customer-minded. They will call you back, even after hours, to help diagnose and troubleshoot any heating & air issue you may have. And, they can seal a house both tightly and comfortably with their insulation expertise.
Ignore my earlier review. The owner of the company called me and made it right and I'm confident that what happened to me was an aberration from how they normally do business. I'd delete the earlier review if I could but Google doesn't seem to give me that option.
