EDIT* I wrote to Meridian the day they replied below and they still have not responded. This is not too surprising considering they acted the same when I lived there. Perfectly sums up their \provide lip service while ignoring the issue\ mentality. Completely agree with all the negative comments posted. I lived in the building last summer and all the comments are right, it was horrible. The property manager (Patrick) is abusive, the heating does not work (my ac unit was running 24 hours a day and the apartment never got under 70 or degrees - even at night), the loud drilling/demolition happened every day which made working at home impossible, Patrick lied in an email to the nature and extent of the construction, and best of all the construction was done without any permit from the DC government (which is illegal). For those who are previous tenants, I recommend reaching out to DC housing and tenant, and other legal authorities to tell them of this. No matter how cheap they advertise their apartments, it is not worth it.

Seriously DO NOT RENT here -- avoid Patrick O'Meara (the \property manager\) AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! SEE THE PICS We were told our home on the 5th floor would be ready for move in. I came from California (!!) and timed my arrival to correspond with the promised for (and signed in writing as the official date) move in date. The. Unit. Was. NOT. Ready!! So, as a struggling law school student, in DC, who just hauled her rear from Cali, I. Had. To. Get. A. Hotel. During. COVID. In. DC. Patrick O'Meara told me - to my face - not to worry and to save receipts for reimbursement. I'm a third-year law student. So I asked if Patrick O'Meara would put it in writing. Patrick O'Meara refused and said he never told me that. I. Got. It. On. Audio. AND I pulled out my phone to confront Patrick, who lied to my face. SEE THE PICS Because, I had seen all the negative reviews on here. I had seen the horrible rep Patrick O'Meara has. I played the audio for Patrick O'Meara. And now, even though I've gotten 80% of my expenses reimbursed, I agree wholeheartedly with all the others : do NOT live here. Seriously. DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. HORRIBLE place to live - Patrick O'Meara uns\ it and is just a pathetic, weaselling liar (the kind of guy you've been warned about : who only looks at your chest, is pervy and just off putting!) DO NOT MOVE IN!! Out when my lease ends. Oh, and RECORD EVERYTHING IN DEALING WITH Patrick O'Meara Highly STRONGLY \in the harshest language possible\ HIGHLY strongly OVERWHELMINGLY urge you to record ALL INTERACTIONS with this SHADY AF company that is \managed\ by Patrick O'Meara

My roommates and I lived at the meridian for over a year. In the time we were there, we had a great experience! The location is great, and rent is good- especially when you turn the sunroom into a bedroom. Management was always super reasonable with us. We were there during renovations, which was definitely irritating having to work from home with construction, but that is the reality of city living. Management was very accommodating/responsive to our request to be given a heads up when construction would be near our apartment and had common spaces we could utilize. We also dealt with our AC breaking. The building isn’t perfect, none are, but the way the management team worked with us made the stressors less impactful. Patrick, the property manager, is especially wonderful! We will always think so fondly of our time at the Meridian. Lastly, shout out to George for rocking the front desk.

The apartment itself is fine, nothing super fancy. The fixtures/appliances reminded me of a college dorm. The shared spaces are nice (although equipment in the gym regularly broke down, but I think they just replaced everything). My biggest issue with this place is that there was construction going on for almost our entire 1 year lease. And it sounded like the unit right above ours. So every day (at least every work day) we could hear drills and hammers. All day long. How long can it take to renovate one unit?? It made working from home during COVID miserable. And when management would send notices about all the additional renovations taking place in the building, they would remind everyone that the common areas are available. But they really expect people to work in common areas day after day? I should be able to stay in my apartment if I want to. Super frustrating.

I would not recommend moving to Meridian until they make clear efforts to improve their health and safety measures. The staff does not take the health and safety of its residents seriously. They allow certain residents to roam the common areas without masks, including at the front desk and in the elevators. The mask policy for the gym, as stated and enforced, is also in violation of the Mayor's order: they allow people to use the cardio machines without masks. The order clearly states that masks must be worn in all common areas. The only exception for exercise is for vigorous outdoor exercise when social distancing can be maintained. I would not recommend moving to Meridian until they make clear efforts to improve their health and safety measures.
