My labor and delivery experience was fantastic. The nurses were so helpful and kind, and took good care of me and my new baby. My labor was rough, but the care I received during it was prompt and I feel like people communicated well to me when it was obvious I needed a C section. Minus one star because I felt that communications broke down a little while I was in the recovery room immediately following my surgery. I had no idea what was going on with my health at that point and no one talked to me about what happened while I was unconscious (I needed to be knocked out during the section). I didn't even know what medicine I was on then. But literally everything else was great, even the food (not restaurant quality food, but still a good variety and it tasted well cooked).

BEWARE of this hospital! Meritus Health has failed to comply with the Maryland Patient's Bill of Rights -- a law that went into effect Oct. 1, 2019. The rights they post on their website are incorrect. They are missing the right to be treated without discrimination based on race, color national origin, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental disability, religion, language or ability to pay. Furthermore, they have changed the language to alter the meaning on three additional rights, including the right to receive information in a manner you understand; the right to be screened, assessed, and treated for pain; and the right to have visitors. As a patient, this is extremely alarming. If this hospital doesn't care enough about patients to provide them with correct information on their rights, as required by law, it should be avoided at all costs.

Went into the emergency room for pain in my abdomen. It was probably around 3:30 when I got there. After doing so many tests and 7 hours later, they decided to admit me. With the Covid 19 rules, it's hard not being able to see your husband. By the time I got to my room, it was almost midnight. The day shift nurses were very nice but the night time nurse was nice but not qualified. She was a trainee and the first night she did have someone working with her. The 2nd night she was by herself and was not very good. She had to keep getting another nurse to help with things. For a trainee, they should have someone still working with them. This was very frustrating. I was there for 2 nights and 2 days and was never offered cups of water. Always had to asked for it and it took forever to get it. My stay was frustrating and I felt like I didn't know what was going on with the doctors. I had to keep asking the nurses. I was never so glad to get out. At some points I thought the staff was not professional or trained properly. My main complaint was them taking 7 hrs to decide to admit me. By that time, my phone had died and I had to use a hospital phone to contact my husband to let him know what was going on.
