My daughter has been with Metzlers for about a year, and we love it. In my opinion, they do a great job of teaching safety and technique without leaving kids afraid to try new and challenging things. Everyone is always incredibly friendly and my daughter likes that the advanced athletes help coach her. It has been a great confidence booster for her and has given her a real love for gymnastics.

We attended the latest parent night out event Saturday at Metzler’s Gym in Downingtown and were extremely disappointed in the lack of security, staff and safety instruction available. Not a single staff member greeted us when we returned to collect our children, and so I walked right in to the gym and had to collect my own children and walked right out with any regard to security measures that I would have expected would be in place. No id check, no signing out procedure; nothing. I also could not find any staff who could assist me with seeking for my children. This was the case for at least half a dozen other parents who were collecting their children at the same time. The lack of security was very concerning. I witnessed children running and jumping head first into a foam pit, doing forward flips from springboards and trampolines, and swinging and climbing ropes without anyone advising them on safety measures. When we sign a waiver of liability, the expectation is that the organization will advise those children as to what appropriate measures of play are and not to leave it in the hands of the children to make those decisions. On top of that, the foam pit was filthy and terribly worn. There were bits and pieces of foam in my child's hair. They foam was literally disintegrating! I will not ever return to Metzler’s Gym again!

I have been going to Metzler's since I was 3 years old (I've been doing gymnastics for 11 years) and after I went for a little bit for little kid classes, I quit because I was starting kindergarten. I then came back last year or the year before for Wednesday night 5 -7pm for non-compete, but now I am on the level 3 compete team (2 nights a week from 4 -7pm) and my first meet is really soon. Metzler's is a good place to go for gymnastics. The only thing I don't like is that in Summer, it is really hot and there is no AC (that I can feel unless they do) and they only have 4 fans that you can only feel if you're standing in front of one. But everything else is good. (Coaches, training)

I was disappointed with the teaching style, which did not seem geared towards younger shy children. I was also concerned with the air quality in the gym, chalk hangs heavy in the air and I never saw the ventilation system being run. I recommend asking for a complete tour (at the time of day when your child will have class) to judge things for yourself; ask about supervision and spotting policies.
