Mikasa city museum. Old coal mining town. Has interesting artifacts from coal mining heyday, features collection of large fossil ammonites which makes this a must for the fossil buff. Walking trail behind museum leads to track to the open-air section consisting of coal mine and geozones.

A relatively small, inexpensive museum with a BEAUTIFUL ammonite collection as well as other fossils and historical pieces. If you love ammonite fossils this place is a must-see. Good for smaller children; older kids and adults will find the collection interesting but might feel that it is a bit limited.

新種のアンモナイト展示で行ってきました！ 館内狭いです。30分あったら見て回れる位の広さです。じっくり見る人ならどうなんだろ... 三笠鉄道博物館との共通入場券も販売してたので、合わせて回るといいかもしれませんね。
