We parked at public parking lot of Stinson Beach. Took a picnic at the beach, then walked to Matt Davis Trail Head. We were lucky to see some deers behind the community center. It is a nice trail. We walked along a Creek. Wonderful afternoon.

Hiked with my son just before Thanksgiving day. Love it! The views here are excellent: bay view - you can see most of north bay, some part of San Francisco, even Oakland, ocean view - you can see the Pacific ocean, mountain view - you can see mounts around, especially the Muir Woods and its red wood trees. We got the east peak and staying there on a rock for a while, enjoying the sunshine and breezy winds. There is a falling tree on our trail, but you can jumping around it. Near the east peak, there is a chained road, we didn't enter there, but somehow we have to exit from there when exit from the peak.

Took us 2 hours to hike 2.6 miles. There is a 10 ft ladder at .80 miles. Lots of uneven ground; and narrow spaces. Hiked with a 6 year old but he made it! The end of the trail; Stinson Beach, is beautiful! Worth the hike! I consider the trails too steep for beginners. Take note, you can take a ride back to the parking area/start of trail. Lots of posted info at the beach. Its a 5 mile drive back.

Good campsite my only thing is they don't allow you to gather broken wood for the fire. Overall good site tho. Good hike all around and 40 minutes.from alamere falls! Photos are of the falls. Then 2 of campsite

Quite simply one of the most stunningly beautiful, rugged, and peaceful places I have been. We camped at Steep Ravine Environmental Site 2 for almost a week (Monday to Saturday) and had the most amazing time. Great location to stay to enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, easy and quick access to the Steep Ravine and Dispea Trails that connect to many hikes in Muir Woods, a small beach below the cabins, and a bit of isolation. Site 2 is directly next to Site 3 so not as private as some of the other sites, but with some of the best views, a tree for afternoon shade, and great wind protection. Most other sites were empty for most of our stay, but all were filled on Friday night. The sites are \hike in\, a very short /- 0.1 mile walk. Wheelbarrows are available to cart your gear in, though they seemed to be a commodity on Friday night! Reservations are available 6 months in advance at 8am PST and they go fast! Make sure you have a good internet connection for the booking. If you ever have the opportunity to stay here, take it!!! Beware poison oak. Wash well with dish soap if you think you have been affected by it. It will remove the poisonous oils and help keep it from spreading.
