One of my favorite locations for quality sushi. i love this place, excellent food & service. looking forward to a return visit. this place has a cool feel to it. feels similar to a restaurant in new york i liked.

I am a sushi lover, so bearing that in mind: The service started off great, but once I got my food I waited 20 minutes to get my check/box, and ended up approaching the hostess to get them. The first order (bagel, salmon) was phenomenal. I've never seen salmon dumplings before, and now I wish I had it more often. The quality of the smoked salmon on the bagel roll was above what I expected, and certainly rivals some of the best I've had. The rice was mushy but well seasoned, and I almost wanted to ask what vinegar they used. The second order was.....a disappointment. The rice was still mushy, and the avocado was way beyond its prime. Two mushy items in all the rolls made for quite a bit of the disappointment for me. My initial solution to this was to abandon the rolls and take it appear to get to the fish directly. This was a mistake. The tuna and salmon were both clearly of poor quality as if they had been sitting out at the wrong temperature. Overall, would not go again, but as cheap as it was, I suppose I got worth my dollar.

Ordered a spicy tuna roll that was pretty good. Had a shrimp tempura roll with an extreme amount of avocado in it that seemed to be too mushy. The rolls aren’t cut evenly and they’re freakishly large. Ordered fried calamari and it was underwhelming. No taste/flavor to it and it wasn’t fully fried, just soggy.

It's hard to not love minato sushi bar. The style is so unique and sets the ambiance apart from other sushi spots. The menu has a nice range of offerings. The prices are reasonable especially during happy hour. Its located on one of my favorite areas in the city, Mt Vernon. I would definately recommend. My favorite sushi is the bagel, aka philly at other sushi bars. Traveler and Adventurer - IG @brian.dent
