数年前までは、恐ろしいぐらいのマガモなどの水鳥が見られましたが、その年にもよりますが、随分と数が少なくなりました。昔と変わらないのが、池越しに見える伊吹山で、条件さえ整えば池に写る逆さ富士ならぬ伊吹山の美しさ！春は桜、秋は紅葉、冬の雪を抱いた山の姿を求めて幾たびも訪れます。数え切れない程訪れている三島池で最近、初めて知ったのですが、ここは「日本のため池百選」に選ばれているそうです。
