I passed here while walking the Camino Catalán from Port de la Selva and was amazed by its scale and elevated location with amazing views looking towards the horizon and the Mediterranean Sea. Its setting is special in the Natural Park of Cap de Creus. It originally dates back to the 9th Century in the Catalán/Romanesque style. It's stept terraces reflect the terrain. Its principal facade has white marble sculptures with different scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. Other highlights include its Church especially its great height joined to the cloisters and Bell Tower dating back to the 12th Century. At its heyday in the Middle Ages it housed a community of about 250 inhabitants.

Superb views from here. Short walk from the car park. Very steep walk up to the castle so anyone with mobility issues should avoid. Very much worth the climb. Would highly recommend.
Magnificent medieval monastery, sympathetically preserved and of great cultural and historical significance.. Penetrate the austere exterior to marvel at a church of astonishing simplicity and power in a setting of incomparable natural beauty.
Beautiful and majestic. One of the best organised self-tours of any historic building. Lovely audio tour and extra commentary available on selection - made for a really comprehensive insight into a fascinating building and history.
Interestingly the monastery is placed really high and offers good view on the valley. Personally I liked more the castle ruins on the top of the hill where this monastery is placed.
