Do NOT get certified here. I got sick before I was fully certified, and was promised a partial refund by Dwayne. I have been trying to get this refund from him since November (it is now mid February), calling at least a few times a week. He has been very unresponsive. Completely unprofessional and I am very frustrated and disappointed.

I would give it negative stars if I could, just because of the haughty owner. If you want to buy whatever they have without any questions, go ahead but if you have questions, go somewhere else as the owner WILL tell you so. I asked him a question about the name of the book required for their course, and he took such offense to it and said that he'll let me go somewhere else. Well, I definitely will go somewhere else, but hopefully this warning might help someone. Avoid this place if you can, because clearly the owner wants you to.

Loved Dive to Survive. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get certified in the Monterey Bay.

Dwayne and the other instructors here are world class. I highly recommend you do any training here as they have the best (only?) pool in Monterey. Just make sure to call ahead as they are only open on a needs basis.

We have been diving with the guys at Dive to Survive for about a year now. I've gotten my Open Water, Nitrox, and Dry Suit certifications there as well as some equipment. Dive to Survive has a pool set up for dive training right at the shop, and Breakwater is super close for the open water dives.
