OK everyone knows what to expect in a Dollar General. But if it wasn't for this particular store I do not know where the people in the town of Monterey would go to grab those basic big store supplies lol. It was basically a Walmart crammed into the dollar store size and if ever a place or area needed it it is here. I can imagine the incredible savings by not driving twisty windy roads to the big cities from this quaint beautiful town. So yeah I'm going to give this Dollar General 5 stars because it serves a real need in this town. Do not misread this as a slight against the town lol. There is a lot to see and do here but honestly to grab a loaf of bread or a jar of peanut butter? This is perfect!

The Dollar General has become a vital business in Highland County, allowing residents to pick up a number of items they would have to otherwise travel a great distance to purchase. They are a normally well stocked store that provides a good function in the community.
