On the shoreline to get a better look at the squid boats. One of the children on the beach had her own flame and a few families staying warm. Worth a stop at dusk, dress warm.

What made this place extra special was the heat wave that passed through the weekend in the valley - so the beach was perfect for us - clear skies all day and night with Temps in 70-80s. Water was also tolerable to jump into and made it a lot of fun. Stepping down from the hotel directly on to the sand and seeing tretches of beach in both directions is great. Hotel location is just exactly what we wanted, and we reserved a west facing room. The porches/balconies are great to stare out into the ocean and to the left in the near distance is Monterey. Looking out to the ocean in the morning and even seeing dolphins swimming by was amazing. Pelicans and birds liven up the sea. Room is modern, updated and clean - it is no luxury suite but we did not even pay near 300/night. At this range and for the wonderful location, it was well worth it. We were on the first floor with ocean view and were able to pull out our chairs to the little porch to enjoy the view. We took several walks up and down the beach and also went for an easy hike on the trail along the beach. The beaches & public parking lots were closed for the holiday weekend although people can still do water activities - so we still ended up on the beach most of the time. Can't imagine how crowded it would be otherwise... We did not dine at their restaurant or order drinks. The outside decks were blocked due to Covid19. They also only do room service every 4th day. The day we left though it was back to being the norm with overcast skies and a chilly breeze.
It is March 2021. My visit was about a month and a half ago. This used to be the hotel I stayed at every few months I traveled to Monterey to go whale watching. My last visit was underwhelming and left me broke and disappointed. The fun things this hotel provides (such as access to the swimming pool, hot tub, restaurant) are canceled because of Corona. But they keep their prices high and continue to add on extra fees such as parking and resort fees. The room they put me in was less than satisfactory. It was noisy at night — it sounded like washers and driers being run through the night. There was hair in the bath tub, the mattress was uncomfortable, I couldn’t figure out the heater, and there were stains everywhere. I complained but they couldn’t care less. The staff in the front weren’t very friendly. Given we’re in a pandemic, I get it. But I could have stayed somewhere else if this is what I knew I’d get at regular price. I guess what you’re paying for is the location right on the beach, but don’t count on hearing the sound of the waves at night, especially if they put you in the room I was in. I won’t be going back.
Very straightforward and it is clean. Please dont complain about sand being every where you walk outside, it's by the beach folks! It's what we want, steps away from a gorgeous view, this place has been here for years! Great breakfast honestly, very convenient, they also provide food for dinner ( it's not included with the room its extra). Very convenient especially during these times The Fisherman's wharf is close by as well! Support your local businesses my fellow Californians! Be safe and stay healthy!
My second time here. The reason I stay here is because of how close to the ocean they are you can literally hear the ocean from any room you stay in! I was a little bummed that you couldn't bonfire at night although I did see a couple bonfires going on. Would have liked the beds/sheets to be cleaner, the white sheets were dingy. Other than that all was good
It is a lovely hotel with great oceanfront views. Be careful at night when on beach the waves come up really quick and you can get wet. We came Valentine's day weekend and was very full and it was hard to find parking. Check in was long, but don't blame them it was a special weekend so of course anywhere you have to wait. Food from restaurant was great and so was the coffee. Great service! keep up the good work!
Great room with nice view, much recommended. It was just beside the ocean and you can see ocean from your balcony. The beach was clean and not many people for good for a evening walk or a morning one with your fav person. The room was good, nice and comfy, enough towels so overall a nice experience
Loved staying here! We got to have a bonfire on the beach and the view from the rooms were amazing!
