Had to try this place after seeing their amazing sandwiches; and it did not disappoint. The sandwich are huge and filled with goodness! A perfect combination of meat-cheese-and sauce to make very fulfilling sandwiches. Perfect sandwich for a picnic!

When entering this restaurant the design is nice and the signage is informative. I was greeted properly and reminded of restaurants history and grounding in Toronto where it was built. Apparently it is a large chain out there and was looking to start here in Montreal and expand elsewhere. When requested I was suggested what sandwiches to go with and what toppings go well. You can also select level of heat you want the flavour to be. One thing I didn't particularly like is the flavours are overstretched so you're not tasting the components separately in the sandwich. The fries looked fresh cut, but they were priced a bit high for portion and not crispy. Overall I find it was good sandwiches, good portions and well put together but mostly a quick grab.
I first ate this amazing sandwich back in 2000, in Toronto. I was over the moon when I found out they were here in Montreal and today I finally had the chance of visiting them. The same taste, same quality... Simply mouthwatering delicious! So good that I only remembered to take a picture after the first half was gone. Thank you guys for satisfying my longtime crave for the one and only veal sandwich! And thank you for the biscotti! You guys rock!!! ( Needless to say, I highly recommend this place to everyone that wants to have the best Italian veal sandwich in town and make sure to be hungry... It's huge!!!️)
I used to be a regular at the Oakville/Mississauga location until I moved away. So happy to see a Montreal location open and I finally got to try it this past Sunday. Staff is incredibly friendly, the restaurant looks amazing, and the sandwiches, fries and sweet potato fries are perfect. Keep up the great work, I'll be back!
The veal sandwich in Montreal does not rate even close to the one in Toronto. The veal is amazing in TO and here it is thin, chewy and dry. Obviously they are not using the same supplier, which would be highly recommended if possible. Also they put a quarter of the amount of sauce on the Montreal sandwich, which serves only to enhances the dryness of the veal. Perhaps the chicken sandwich would be a better choice in Montreal, but for the BEST VEAL sandwich ALL locations in Toronto are recommended and reliable.
I spend most of my long work days on film sets both in Montreal and Toronto. On occasion, filming goes overtime and a second meal is called-for. California Sandwiches always gets the cast and crew across the finish line! I was thrilled when the Montreal shop opened at St Denis and Ontario. A very convenient and yummy option if last minute dinner plans are called-for. In my fluctuating work schedule, a hot veal sandwich is a regular in my bi-weekly dinner rotation. The Montreal shop rocks!
It was my first time eating a California Sandwich, and it was awesome! I had the medium chicken and cheese sandwich - I could barely finish the first half. The fries were great too, specifically the sweet potato fries! Great service as well! Thanks for the olives
Sandwich I had was really good. It was big, fresh and tasty. Staff very friendly. Definitely recommend this place.
