Cozy lodgings in a beautiful setting. Water heater can be a little fickle, but I promise the showers do heat up, it just takes some fine-tuning and patience.

This large, historic building has a wide front porch. Many generations have relaxed in the rockers and watched foot traffic go by on Kentucky Rd. Immediately downhill is the barn, the site of square dances and other community events. The interior of Glen Rock Inn is a bit dim, and trash must be handled, carefully (i.e., put into the bear-proof containers).
I stayed here as a chaperone of three students for a college retreat. We shared the house with a larger group. I would only recommend this lodging if you had a large group and did not share or were lodged with multiple small parties. Or had an attached bath. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped but we did not have access to the dining area as the larger group took over the common areas. I shared a room with one student and our room did not share a bath ( some rooms had shared baths). The down side was that our bathroom was down the hall from our room and was not locked from the outside. The larger group started using our bath because they thought it was a common bath and we were locked out of it several times. The thermostat was in the hallway so you were at the mercy of anyone who wanted to adjust it. Our door had a large gap at the top - over an inch- and the hall light was very bright. The beds were hard. On the plus side- Glen Rock Inn is very close to all conference activities. The porch was lovely and there was a covered deck by the stream in the back. If I had a smaller group, I would reserve the Glen Rock Inn apartment. It sleeps 8 with 2 baths. Definitely check the room and bath layouts before booking.
Lovely place to bring your church group to stay during a conference at Montreat!
It is what it is, a big old house for people to get together.
