Such a little gem, welcomed by Philippe, we spent one night in this wonderfull hotel. It is a perfect boutique hotel for everyone who likes it secluded, and prefers some privacy. There are only 4 bedrooms. Every guest had its own breakfast served in a separate room - that was great, because all covid19 policies were respected. Best thing about this place, apart from the amazing breakfast, is the private access to the lake. Through the magic door you can jump into the lake right away. Merci beaucoup, Philipp! Until next time...

Charming B&B in historical villa. Just a few rooms but it’s like living in a villa over a hundred years ago. Beautifully furnished is period furniture. It is hard to comprehend to spend the night in the house of the person who lend his name to a currency and the most famous wildlife park. Friendly staff. Parking is bit of a pain and getting my car there was a bit of a challenge. An unique place to stay.
Very friendly people that run the place and definitely worth going and see where Paul Kruger died
Villa Kruger was by far one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is fantastic, with a lovely view of the lake and mountain. The owners gave us great advice on things to do locally and even recommended a good hiking trail. The hotel is tastefully decorated with every detail thought through. The house keeping was the highest standard I have experienced - every item in the room was tidied, laid or folded with extra attention to detail. The breakfast was also one of the highlights of our stay. Lots of good quality food presented nicely in the dining room. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples or small families who are looking for accommodation that is more interesting and welcoming than some of the big purpose-built hotels in Montreux.
As British forces advanced on Pretoria, Kruger left the capital of the Transvaal and was given refuge in Europe. He settled in Clarens, Switzerland for the last six months of his life where he died of heart failure on 14 July 1904. His remains were returned to South Africa and he was buried in the Pretoria Church Street cemetery on 16 December 1904.
A part of South Africa's history in Switzerland - President Paul Kruger, last president of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, who died in self-imposed exile in Clarens on July 14, 1904. The owner kept the Kruger room and name of the villa after purchasing it ... it is no longer a museum maintained by the South African government. The B&B will re-open the Swiss summer of 2017.
