I forgot how beautiful of an area this is! So stunning even with slight past-peak fall colors. I always appreciate lakes which can be photographed in their entirety. I am for sure adding this to my upcoming Mount Horeb, Wisconsin flight guide on my website! Such a beautiful landscape. Cheers!

Late afternoon beauty. Shoreline of tall trees as the sun gets low is stunning. Great xc skiing when the snow flies, too! Great tiny lake for swimming and paddling, but be prepared when swimming for cold spring-fed water, late summer algal blooms, small leeches. C'mon, though. All that can be dealt with by any swimmer. Lake is stocked by the State with fish.

The beach was perfect for younger kids wanting space to walk/swim out before it gets deep which means grown ups can keep on going and get distance from little kids. Natural springs to explore as well! We hiked a foot trail around the entire lake which we really enjoyed only to find out that it wasn't technically a hiking path, but it was adventurous, fun, and safe so I'll take it. There were several people there but everyone was spread out doing their own thing. Fishing, picnics, playground, beach, jumping off rocks/downed trees/swinging rope, kayaking and hiking.

I'd give three and a half stars if I could. It's a cute little beach (the first park in the county!) and wasn't crowded when we went. The water is murky and there is a lot of lakeweed to navigate around, but swimming here was pleasant. Beautiful trees.
