Nothing special about this Delhi Gate though. It was constructed during British Time and was used as a transit and guidance point.Closeby is Nahan College now Medical College and it's play ground.Early Mornings and Evenings are excellent with lots of people around...Walking...Playing.... Running etc...This is one lively place in a small town.If you are coming to Nahan, board a bus from Kala Amb.Connectivity of this place from Naraingarh is extremely poor.Happy Moving.

Lytton Memorial, Nahan, Himachal Pradesh It is also referred to as Delhi Gate. Locals refer to it as clock tower. The four sides of the tower have clocks. Lytton memorial is the entry point and a renowned landmark of Nahan. Its brick red colour and fort like architecture is attractive and eye catching. It is a symbol of friendship between Sirmour dynasty and the British. Maharaja Prakash of Sirmour built it in honour of Viceroy of India then Lytton in the year 1877. It is located at Chaugan and is an interesting edifice. There are two small gates below the edifice. Pedestrians used to walk through in the past. A cannon gun is on display at the entrance of the gate. Lord Vaisharai Lord Lytton organized the court on January 1, 1877, after assuming the charge of Viceroy. In 1877, Lord Lytton organized a court in Delhi, in which 84000 people, including many kings and princes of India's princely states and special people participated. Sirmaur king also participated in this event. The Queen of Victoria was declared the Queen of India at this event. Photos by Viswas Menon Viswas Menon Write up compiled by Viswas Menon
