Great guesthouse! Very nice host. Highly recommend it.

The house is nice and cozy, it just next to the main street of Magome-juku, and the host is very friendly.
This is probably one of my favourite places to have stayed ever. It is right in the main road of Magome, and the host has been very welcoming. She also offered to change my reservation for a single (2 person) room to a bunkbed room which cost far less (and I had it to myself). Another guest said the host had make such an offer in the guest's favour as well for somebody else. In additional she was very helpful in helping find the trail to Tsumago, some other sights and making a reservation for the only restaurant open in Magome. The rooms are traditional Japanese and I find cosy. You're in a tiny postal town so of course it's not gonna be 40m2 rooms. There's plenty space for stowing your luggage and sleeping, which is what you would do there. I have no idea what other reviews meant with smelly, everything was clean and neutral smelling. The whole minshuku has a wonderful style that I loved, clear (traditional) Japanese with modern touches. Did I mention the view out the back is amazing? Highly recommend staying here if you plan on going to Magome.
Most lovely place I stayed in Japan. Really clean. Kitchen is all brand new. Cosy little common room. Drinks you can buy (which is handy as the shops close sort of early). Would highly recommended. Rooms we lovely and clean. Big windows. (I can see a review below about things smelling, this was definitely not true when I was there) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Really beautiful accommodation. Futons are very comfortable. The whole place is kept warm in the afternoon for check-in and returning customers. Good wifi. Nice breakfast. Decent kitchen with just about everything you need. The host is friendly and keeps everything neat and clean. If coming with heavy wheeled luggage I would suggest either have it sent up from Nakatsugawa or go up the back street which is paved smoothly and less steep. There is a paved area at the back of the guesthouse connecting the two streets.
The place is in a perfect location in this beautiful village. Mika the owner is so lovely and I highly recommend you stop by for an overnight and enjoy this magical place with an amazing atmosphere and perfect host. I’ll come back for more :)
Great little place. Everything you'd expect, clean, quiet, great for kids. Town is absolutely stunning as well, make sure to try the only restaurant that's open past 5 pm, some of the best food I've had in all of Japan. The hike near here is also great. Overall no complaints what so ever.
Very clean, friendly and helpful owner, nice rooms. Very good breakfast
