The building is pretty old but we'll maintained thanks to the hard work of the foreigner staff. Food, we had dinner and breakfast, is great as well. This is a guest house so don't expect a three stars hotel. It's a great location for backpack travellers while it could be a bit too rough for families with kids due to strict rules (silence after 21:00). Overall we had a good experience over there.

Magome is a wonderful little place and this ryokan is everything good with it. You feel the history, you have a view across a vast forest and valley from your window, and food that is both good and makes you feel refreshed.

Wow, what a place, traditional rooms and dinner/breakfast was awesome. They put so much effort into it, it's unbelievable.

Loved this place so much!! Just everything about the place, the town, the hosts, the food, the surrounding mountains and green landscapes. So much all rolled into one, I can’t remember a better place so full of beautiful things... nope not one. This takes the cake for sure- or the tempura at least. Check it out

If you are visitors to Japan, you may love this place; the old town load preserved since 17th(?) century will pull your attention. I am Japanese, but I didn't know the beauty of this place since my foreigner friend told me to visit with me.

Traditional Japanese guesthouse set in a picturesque protected village. I absolutely loved the area and enjoyed my stay at the guesthouse. I would not consider it suitable for anyone with lower limb problems as you can only reach the guesthouse by walking up a very steep cobbled street, and there is no lift at the accommodation, so getting your luggage up the stairs could be an issue if you are allocated a room on the first floor. The young lady who runs the guesthouse is very friendly and helpful, and I am told that she serves excellent food in the restaurant across the road. The ideal place to stay if you are doing the Nakasenda trail from Magome to Tsumago.

Great place to stay!!! Rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and they love meet people and chat. Dinner is very good. Fantastic location. It is one of the best place that I saw in Japan.

Although the pictures and name make it sound like a charming little inn, albeit a bit rustic, it is actually closer to a hostel filled with noisy tourists and very thin walls. There is one young woman who seems to run everything and she's pleasant and helpful. But there's only so much she can do to get people to be respectful and mindful of other guests. For the price in the heart of Magome, you get what you get.
