Lively architecture and building. Construction commenced in the late 1600s. The parish register holds, on February 8, 1828, the transcription of the birth and baptism certificate of Jules Verne. Inside the statue of Mary and baby Jesus is surrounded by a least a dozen white roses, the whole altar for them is beautiful, as well as all the stained glass windows.

The church of Sainte Croix (Holy Cross),is located in the heart of Nantes.its origins are obscure. What is known for sure is that it was placed under the tutelage of the Benedictines of Marmouteirs-les-Tours in the Xith century.
This gorgeous Saint Croix church of Nantes is a beautiful church of Classical style architecture with a very flamboyant Gothic style nave. I was struck by the eerily darkness of the interior and yet very peaceful ambience. From the outside I was mesmerized by the Belfry and the classical façade and the inside is even more impressive! I learned and saw the only surviving altar (the right side altar to the main high altar) of the seventh century! The original organ, though modified, is a beauty. The stained-glass windows are spectacularly Gothic giving the interior a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere. Absolutely worth visiting. Welcoming for all ages and backgrounds.
Beautiful church located in the middle of the shopping streets in city centre
Recently visited beautiful gardens great place for quiet relaxation
Superb food and fantastic service xx
Regular Church
I love the architectural style (style classique) and the small garden between the church and the nearby Passage Sainte-Croix having a nice fig tree in the middle. An historical landmark reflecting an eternal tranquility. And did you know that Jules Verne was baptized there?
