Nice lovely and peaceful place to visit. Would be nice to visit around evening or morning during summer as it's too hot during day. Other time it's okey I guess.

This wonderful gem is always a favorite place for me to go on my layovers! I walk about 8 miles through stunning emerald rice fields to the “Stairway to Heaven”, literally as it goes through the packed Japanese cemetery onto the back of the Temple grounds. I then spend some time at the pond pagoda feeding the turtles and coy before meandering the grounds towards the entrance. I’ve been walking this path more than 10 years.

If you haven't been here, you have missed one of the best introductions to Japanese culture. Religion and spiritualism are not for everyone, but the physical manifestation is quite amazing. Call it art, beauty, nature or architecture; it is really pleasant for the eyes and senses. Add a very interesting history and one is bound to be wowed. There are buildings, old district with shops, sculptures, ponds, landscaping, walking areas and wooden crafts. Come and enjoy!

Beautiful architecture, nice peaceful place with holy water to rinse your hands, and a incense cleanse where you waft the smoke towards yourself. Tasty food, at the venders near the entrance.

Quiet and lovely place. Worth a visit if you are around the area. Loved the peacefulness and tranquility of the place. It is an active place of worship so weekends might be crowded. But when I was there on a weekday late afternoon, there wasn’t any activities. Nonetheless, the detailing on the wooden column, the architectural designs, even a simple Japanese poster, provide plenty of distraction for the occasion.
