Lost 2 stars due to an hour and a half wait for meal (said 30 mins). Kitchen under staffed. Not appreciated after a 7 hour drive. However food was excellent when it eventually arrived.

This is what pubs used to be. Good bar downstairs, quiet but basic accommodation with a shared toilet and shower facility. Has not been redecorated since 1956 but that is the charm of this place. The linen was clean and the rooms are tidy and well kept. There is a guest lounge with a TV although the room had none but who cares. This room had a basin and provided towels. Meals are relatively expensive but very good, a cut above the average pub fare. Local patrons are not as quirky as smaller towns but the beer is cold and the service is quick. Nothing wrong with a detour back in time and I hope the ownefs keep it this way.
Pub had great atmosphere, was clean, nice decor, friendly staff and cold bevvies. Had a great night there. Bistro looked great - would have loved to have tried it but we had already eaten somewhere else.

Came in at 8pm as the kitchen was closing and these legends still fed me and what a tasty meal

Free camping down the rd , had lunch here today. OMG , the best roast chicken I have ever eaten out.. 14. The meat fell off the bone and the veggies were amazing .. great beer and excellent customer service.. do yourself a favor and go there..
