Excellent seafood basket Friday evening, served quickly by a very friendly crew. The battered fish was nice and crispy as were the chips and the calamari were delicious. For me it beat the local shop that is doing "famous fish&chips" any time. Very good value for money too.

Port Stephens has been our favourite holiday destination for over 20 years and over that time we have had great fish and chips from various outlets. Unfortunately this visit we bought fish and chips from John Dory’s and it has to be said they were the worst we have ever had. The fish was black, dry and inedible and the chips average. Both were dark in colour suggesting that old oil had been used. Extremely disappointing and we will not be getting any food there again.

Hello, Upon arriving in Nelson Bay, fish and chips were on the mind. There are so many different restraints that offer said meal so my friend and I decided to take a chance on John Dory and I am thrilled I did. Upon entering a friendly greeting was offered as I ordered the meal. They were quite busy at the time and with 4 staff on they did a terrific job bringing the food out with haste. It was good food. Thankyou, Jake

After working in the area for three days and eating out at the local restaurants, I decided to get some fish and chips on my last night to eat down by the water. Walked into John Dory Seafood and was greeted by a pleasant and professional young lady that was more than happy to take my order and have a quick chat! She explained that they were busy and that it would take 20mins for the food to be ready, no dramas I was happy to wait! And I’m extremely happy I did! Food was sensational! Fat chips! fish, calamari and potato scollops all crunchy on outside and melt in the mouth on the inside. Wish I had of gone to John Dory on the first nigh!! Owner should be extremely proud of their staff!

We stumbled upon John Dory by chance. It seems to be quite popular to the local residents. We had grilled Barramundi & Perch fish. We have a choice of salad or fries as sides. You can also choose between big it regular fries. The grilled fish taste yummy & we wish we have extra stomach space to order for a second helping ! The staff is very polite & efficient worker. I really appreciate the various meal options available to the guests here.

I bought a calamari pack at this seafood shop and it was probably the best calamari I had ever had. Wasn't chewy or tough and the chips were great too. It was done reasonably quickly and would recommend

The fish was burnt, when I questioned about the burnt fish, the employee just explained it is crunchy. It tasted burnt. The fries/chips were soggy, cold and the fish was tasteless and was claimed to be crispy yet it wasn’t a single bit. I couldn’t have waited any longer for the service.

Got take away recently chips & fish were good , seafood sticks were also good but unfortunately our potato scollops were under cooked which I was looking forward to eat . I'll still go back but next time cook the potato scollops a little bit longer thank you.
