A must see destination. Close to Nelson but away from the action. Your own private beach with canoes to take out. The water is super shallow in the swimming area. There’s fruit trees, goats and chickens, charging station for your electronics and very clean bathrooms. Trailer site #1 is definitely the best if you need to park a trailer. Train goes by once in the middle of the night but our kids slept through it. Jane is amazing and will reply quickly to any questions you might have. Bookings are done through AirBnB and enquires are done through Facebook.

This is a really nice place. The facilities are simple, and its peaceful here. Highly recommend if you're looking for solitude.

This is a great place to camp close to Nelson. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet the hosts during my stay, but there is a sign in the yard showing where you set up. Most sites are a short walk-in. Outhouses are clean, propane showers looked inviting (the lake called louder on the hot days for me, though). There is an outdoor kitchen, a central fire pit, and a recharging station (for cell phones, etc) by the back steps of the house. There is no Wifi, but there is cell reception. Tenting platforms are aligned along the lake. The campground was very quiet at night. There is traffic noise from across the arm of the lake, but that quiets later in the evening. Both nights I was there, a train rolled through close to midnight, complete with sounding its horn, and the campground is adjacent to the tracks. Though that was a wakening experience, the rest of the night is peaceful. Extra cool: There are several fruit trees on the property (apple, pear, apricots) with a sign to "help yourself". Two goats, a rooster and some chickens are in a historic bunkhouse. The mirror in the wash-up area has the best reflection ever (I mean the background reflection of the lake and trees!). I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights at Whistlestop Campground!

Love this place. Peaceful, beautiful and has everything you need. The sound of the train is shocking the first time you hear it but it grows on you pretty quick. Amazing this is available so close to town.

Such a magical spot! The hosts were fantastic, the camp fire was a great place to meet people and the camping sites where right on the lake and surprisingly private. The cutiest goats are also on the property. 100% awesome vibes

nice beach, not worth 35 dollars. More like a 20 dollar place

Brand new campground being run by one of the sweetest people I've met. Owners Jane & Jordan & [Nana] puppy and couple of the most friendly mini goat brothers I've ever met. The location is kind of out of town so it gives you the beautiful silence and camping experience you want. Amazing campground right by the water, surprisingly no bugs or mosquitoes, stunning views, private sand beach, free HOT showers, perfectly done outside kitchen, canoes, platforms for tents, free wood and much more.! I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. I wish every campsite was this amazing with such a friendly people who take the best care of their property (we're on road trip, trust me, we visited a lot of them haha) Thanks a lot J&J, we are definitely coming back again. ️
