We booked a compact and got an 8 seater SUV because that was the only vehicle available when we arrived early afternoon. Not only that, the terms of the rental were not properly explained to us upon receiving the vehicle. We were told that all I needed to pay was the cost shown on the online booking which had already been charged to my Visa and paid before I arrived. However when I returned the car at the airport, I was charged an additional 0.33 per km. I drove that vehicle almost 1500 km all over Nova Scotia. Needless to say I was appalled by the additional cost of almost 500. My husband spoke to the manager at the Halifax airport location and she told us she had removed the charges but when we returned out I got charged for the mileage. What a way to ruin a trip. NEVER EVER renting from Avis again.
