Above average pub food, with generous portions and friendly staff. We didn’t have them but there were some tasty looking vegetarian pasta options on the regular (not specials) menu. Good value

My friends and I were in town from Sydney and loved the bistro here! This is definitely where I would eat again. Seafood basket was gorgeous and perfectly battered, chicken Mignon and reported to be excellent. The staff were pleasant, professional and accommodating (even with our questions about menu items and my slightly strange drink order of soda lime and bitters). Walking through the main bar to get to the toilets garnered me an unusual amount of staring from the locals, so maybe avoid that if you're a bit shy.

Welcoming country pub. Huge menu, the food was fresh, perfectly cooked and the kids menu was perfect. Can recommend the tempura mushrooms and the kids bolognaise was flavoursome. Great for a casual meal as a couple, family or group. Will come again!

Exceptional establishment. They went above and beyond for my dads funeral after service drink, and I will forever remember that kindness... Not only did they offer free nibbles...... but we also had ppl telling us that they got free drinks after.... Star and Garter? you are a pub with a heart. you have always been an exquisite establishment, but now we know you are one of a kind. Thank you. THANK YOU a thousand times over.... for all you have done for us.

Proper pub food. Nothing "smothered, drizzled nor resting on" is on the menu. Good sized serves, well cooked. Enjoyed every mouthful.

We went for lunch on Saturday, I had steak and mushroom pie which was cold and the pastry was totally uncooked. My wife ordered chicken kiev as did my brother in law, however both were almost raw in the centre. Will not return and cannot recommend .
