Great facility with fantastic staff. The Sporting Clays range is incredible as is the skeet. A little slice of the country/heaven in Waukee. The negative reviews are unfortunate and come from disgruntled homeowners that decided to buy houses next to a well established gun club. Maybe look that up before moving in? It's like moving next to the interstate and being mad about the noise from traffic - it was there long before you were. Wouldn't change a thing about New Pioneer Gun Club. Love it!

Having a gun club is fine. Having one right next to a school and neighborhoods is not. They’re harming the neighborhood and city around them. I know they were here first - but sell and move.

First time visiting. Am not a member. They have very nice setups for Trap & Skeet. Price was reasonable even for non members. Definitely will shoot there again. shotgun only.

My kids have been on the Des Moines Clay Crushers competitive shooting team located at New Pioneer Gun Club for 4 years. My Husband is now the head coach and a board member for the Club. This club has given my kids and many others a great opportunity to participate in a sport where EVERYONE is included not just the best or the suck-ups or the financial backers, all kids get to compete. My family spends hours upon end at this club as soon as the weather is decent enough to shoot in the spring (my son even shoots year round with hopes of some day making the Olympic shooting team) till it’s to cold in the fall and every nice day in between. The employees are great and it’s a great opportunity to do something as a Family!!

Please disregard the negative reviews. I've been living in Waukee for 20 years and let me tell you these are some of the nicest folks you could ask to meet. New Pioneer has been in operation (from my understanding) nearly 60 years now. When they first started up they were WELL outside of the developed town only accessible by a gravel road. Whodathunkit but the town has expanded (as towns do). Someone got it as a bright idea to build a school in the adjacent property and now there's uproar about how it's nonsensical to have a gun range next to a school/neighborhood. All these folks with their knickers in a twist are just bitter because they didn't bother to look into the history of local businesses before shelling out 250 g's on a house. Rather than kicking the 60 year old small business out of town, why don't these people take five minutes and GOOGLE EARTH THEIR NEW NEIGHBORHOOD TO SEE IF THERE'S ANYTHING UNPLEASANT AROUND. Some folks around here have got more dollars than sense. (Funny thing is, if these folks bothered to give it a try, they would actually find a convenient and wholesome experience to share with their whole family). Please don't let the stars impact your patronage of New Pioneer. It's beautiful property with a well equipped range and accommodating staff. They regularly host competitions if you've got the itch for adrenaline, and hopefully won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Cordially, someone-whose-been-living-here-longer-than-everyone-whining-about-it (attached are satellite images from 2000 and 2018 just to see how much Waukee has grown. New Pioneer is near the bottom)
